Little big JohnU.S. $995.00 Lovely painted eye boy 14 inches tall. ![]() Click on the image to enlarge
Presenting: A “One of a kind” boy doll, known as “Little big John”. Unfortunately, I have never found the name of the original maker of this model that I think was made in Germany in the early 1900’s.
Many of you may have heard me say over the years that I have at least 200 dolls partly made all over my Studio, many carefully wrapped and stored away, this head was one of those kept in a drawer for many years. I made two little boy dolls dressed similarly. One with glass eyes was for a custom order and this little boy with painted eyes I was going to keep, but, alas, I need to sell him.
This little boy is from a Byron mold and poured in finest “Lady White” porcelain with many paintings and firings.
He features painted eyes and painted hair.
His slant leg composition body is hand made and has a few tiny hairlines, barely visible in the painted surface not seen when he is dressed. He has turned wrists.
Little Big John has a lovely pure cotton blouse trimmed in finest French Laces and a bow in the front. His trousers are pure silk.
He wears hand cotton socks and highest quality genuine leather shoes.
He stands 14 inches tall. |
